LF Funeral for Slain Activist Pierre Boulos
Lebanese Forces slain activist Pierre Boulos was proclaimed an LF martyr as he was buried Sunday in a massive funeral two days after his body was found stuffed in the trunk of his car near his house in Jemayze, An Nahar reported on Monday. Beirut's Maronite archbishop Boulos Matar officiated over funeral mass at St. Joseph-Hikmet Church, which was packed with flag-wielding LF members led by Qornet Shahwan members Toufic Hindi and Jean Aziz.

Beirut parliament member Michel Pharoun, at whose business empire Boulos worked before his death, was also present at the funeral service for the one-time head of the LF Students Department, An Nahar noted.

Boulos, 40, went missing after attending prayers for Mar Sharbel at Mar Maroun-Innaya monastery Friday evening. When he failed to show up at his home by dawn Saturday, his family began a search, which eventually led to the discovery of the decomposing body wrapped in a blanket at the car trunk.

An iron rod with bloodstains was found near the car, which corroborated conclusions by forensic experts that Boulos died from heavy blows to his head. The crime was reminiscent of last year's abduction and murder of engineer Ramzi Irani, who also headed the LF Students Department.

Missing LF Activist's Body Found Stuffed in Car's Trunk
Samir Geagea's Lebanese Forces suffered another kidnap- murder of a prominent activist as the body of Pierre Boulos was found decomposing in the trunk of his car two days after he went missing in Beirut. The discovery happened in Beirut's residential district of Jemayze Saturday afternoon. The car was parked outside a hospital in the district.

The crime rekindled ugly memories of the kidnap-murder of engineer Ramzi Ayrani, whose decomposed corpse was found in his car's trunk eight days after his mysterious disappearance in Beirut's Hotels district.

Like Ayrani, Boulos was once the chairman of the LF Students Branch. The LF Website quoted forensic experts as saying Boulos' death resulted from heavy club-beating of the head.

His parents were not allowed to see the body. There were scores of condolers at his house. Most prominent was Dr. Toufic el-Hindi the one-time political advisor to Geagea.

Geagea, who recently began his 11th year in solitary confinement at the Defense Ministry prison in Yarze, fired Hindi from the LF shortly after his release from jail last year after serving out an 18-month term for allegedly collaborating with Israel.

Boulos was an employee at the business empire of Beirut parliament member Michel Pharoun. His funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at Saint Joseph Church (Hikmeh School - Ashrafieh).
