An LF Veteran in Need
One of our colleague is in deep troubles, and need your help in adapt himself in this very critical time for him.

He lost his job couple month ago, and couldn't get anyone yet, his job was as independent contractor where he can not profit from the unemployment benefits.

He is married with 2 kids, aged 13 and 15. His life needs are so high and he is in desperate need for a help from people like you.

There are few of us who helped him and keep helping him as much as we can, but you know the life needs are so high and he is one of our comrades who between 75 and 90 was defending us in anyway he could.

In fact he was in a position of an LF officer, and was responsible of Klayaat front with another officer. After 1990, he was called so many times to Defence ministry where he was beaten with other LF'rs and every now and then was called again for invistagation or beating sessions, till he finally succeed to get a visa, and came over here wher he got the staus of political assylum. The only problem with his case is that his PA can not be adjusted. He can stay in the USA as long as he wish, but he cant go out even to canada. Once he go out he cant return back. And because of what happened to him in Lebanon he cant go back.

We didnt have any other choice but ask help from outside people like you, as many of so called comrades decide to shut the door in his face and ours. We are asking for as little help as you can, the donation door is open, from $1 to unlimited.

Help us to help him till he can get back of his feet for the sake of his teenagers kids, and GOD will return back your generosity more and more.

I create a link for donations on http://www.lfmichigan.org and would appreciate any help for the said person. His name will be kept confidential only 2 initial will be used "I.Y".

P.S. Before me and other 2 decide to go to all our personal friends and friends like you, we tried to get him help from local chapter members. Some of these members own stores and restaurents. Like we say in Lebanon "kasarou idon w sha7adou 3alaya". Then turned the deaf ear. Thats why we dont give much importance to these people who by chance they are in a high capacity ranks in the chapter, and all own a well off business.

Thank You

Opinion: Honorable discharge for the Syrian soldier!
It has been reported that General Aoun is calling for a "National Conference" to achieve "National Reconciliation" and to provide and "Honorable" exit for Syria.

That's a great idea, but why? Why would anyone who suffered from occupation for 30 years seeks "honorable" exit for his occupier who killed over 200,000 of our people, destroyed our infrastructure, destroyed our economy, set our country on a track of destruction, and forced 2,000,000 of us to migrate? Why invite those who raped, kidnapped, and murdered our people in cold blood to a roundtable discussion, especially when the international community is finally determined to kick them out? Why would he give Syria a chance for an "honrable" exit when the UNSCR 1559 is attempting to corner the Ba'ath regime in order to smash it and eliminate its influence in Lebanon?

It is mind boggling to comprehend how this act could be consistent with SALSRA and UNSCR 1559. Why General Aoun would care about honorable discharge for the Syrian soldiers when they humiliatingly defeated him and Lebanon in October 13, 1990; murdered the Lebanese Army soldiers before the Ministry of Defense, and exiled him for 14 years? Why the sudden caring about his "enemy" who kicked him out of his country, tarnished his legacy, and dishonorably discharged him from his Army? The list stretches for 14 years of humiliation...

Anyhow, maybe the roundtable conference for which General Aoun is calling is not meant to give Syria and Hizbullah an honorable exit, but rather to give him such and exit especially after he has been isolated as a result of the widening of Qornet Shehwan and the Bristol gathering. It's only a guess. However, just in case he is serious about his conference, then someone should inform Aoun of the short cut to the national reconciliation he is allegedly seeking by showing him the direction to the Bristol Hotel in Beirut where Lebanese Christians and Muslims meet to discuss the future of Lebanon without foreign interference. That's a NATIONAL CONFERENCE for NATIONAL RECONCILIATION.

Mr. Aoun, your efforts for a national conference are greatly appreciated, but unfortunately, you are 16 years late. You should have thought for such a great idea when you were appointed to head an interim government in September 1988. That way, you would have saved the lives of many Lebanese Soldiers; you would have saved the destruction of the Lebanese Resistance; you would have saved the collapse of the free Lebanese fiefdom, and you would have prevented the full occupation and humiliations of Lebanon by the Syrian soldiers, which "honor" you, are desperately trying to preserve! Enough games!

PS: If Aoun decides to attend the Bristol Conference, we will buy the ticket.

Aoun Envoy to Strike Deal with Syrians
Gen. Aoun has revealed that he had delegated a 'personal envoy' to Damascus with a written invitation that was formally extended to Syria to attend a roundtable conference in Paris to map out an 'honorable Syrian Pullout" from Lebanon and outline the post-withdrawal relationship between the two countries.

"I hope the Syrian leadership has entered the phase of readiness to review its role in Lebanon and cope pragmatically with the international changes that developed in the region, taking into prime consideration U.N. resolution 1559," Aoun said in an interview published by the Beirut daily Al Balad Sunday.

"I hope this will be the prelude to restructure the relationship between the two countries on a basis of mutual respect of the sovereignty and the freedom of decision making without interferences, pressures or coercion," Aoun said from his Paris exile.

The general said prevailing conditions in Lebanon still do not encourage him to return and hold the roundtable conference in Beirut. He also did not identify his envoy to Damascus by name, but said he is a Lebanese civilian, who lives in Lebanon.

The envoy delivered the invitation to officials in the Syrian foreign ministry and
was treated with full respect on his way to Damascus and back

Asked whether he has any inkling that the Assad regime might possibly accept the invitation, Aoun said he preferred to leave the answer to that question to Syria.
