LF-AUB Conference: No National Reconciliation
without Geagea
"Geagea ‘key’
to reconciliation" was the main title for the conference
held by the Back To Roots Club on Wednesday the 21st of
May, 2003 in AUB. The lecture room was almost full while
people were still coming in , presents at the conference
were LF responsibles ( Fadi Shamati , Sou3oud Bou Chebel,
Eliano el Mir, Teddy Abou Rjeily etc ... ) , LF students
from all universities and AUB students from diverse political
affiliations.
Quick Summary of the conference:
LF high responsible Sou3oud Abou Chebel , in charge of
organizing the work on the "National petition to
free Dr.Samir Geagea " , after being introduced by
the president of the club Rashad el Rayess, began the
lecture by exposing the latest results of the widely spread
petition to free Dr.Samir Geagea by exposing its results
and its goals.
Then ex-MP Edmond Rizk and Journalist Georges Nassif speeched
explaining that Dr.Geagea's release is a must to start
a national reconciliation; and that this man, as Nassif
quoted, is being held responsible for all the atrocities
of the Lebanese war and he continued saying his case is
one of a flagrant injustice .Edmond Rizk attacked the
current government and argued they were acting against
National reconciliation and called them traitors , mainly
the President of the republic Emile La7oud that has been
unloyal to his promisses , He argued that Hakim is being
deprived from his most basic rights and called for his
immediate release.
The Conference was medially covered by Annahar, Daily
Star Newspaper , Al Massira Magazine , and LBCI television.
